•  Government College Ropar,
one of the premier institution of modern Punjab is the legacy of pre-partition
days. Late S. Baldev Singh Dummna, the first defence minister of free India deserves
special mention. He was the man whose vision ultimately led to
the establishment of this college on June 6, 1945. The college is surrounded by
scenic beauty of Shivalik Hills, Satluj River and a Mound representing Indus
